WEST VIRGINIA HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM

LAUNCH A COFFEE COMPANY THAT GIVES

BACK TO FELLOW MOUNTAINEERS

“We roast, sell and ship coffee from our home state of West Virginia,” said Co-founder and Parkersburg resident Mel Mendoza. “And we plan to donate a portion of the proceeds to combat local issues.”

Parkersburg, West Virginia -- October 4, 2021 -- Launched from the Appalachian Mountains, Anthrasyte Coffee is a social enterprise with a love of coffee and an unbridled passion for the outdoors.

Company founders Angela and Mel Mendoza also have a deep love for their home state of West Virginia. But, of course, many social and economic challenges in the Mountain State overshadow world-class hiking trails, rock climbing, white water rafting, and skiing.

Ultimately, the husband and wife team behind Anthrasyte Coffee is driving to create an outdoor brand that ignites the spark -- that becomes a wildfire -- of change and opportunities in the lives of West Virginians.

‘Level Up Campaign’

Each bag purchased will allow the company to fund key issue areas in West Virginia. These fundamental issues would include, but are not limited to:

  • The Opioid Crisis
  • Economic Development
  • Mental Illness
  • Literacy
  • Sustainable Drinking Water

“At Anthrasyte Coffee, we want to be that cup of Java that inspires you to take ‘It’ to the next level, to know that you are helping Level Up the lives of others,” said Co-founder and Parkersburg resident Mel Mendoza.

Shoppers can purchase either Whole Bean or Ground bags of Anthracite Coffee directly at the company’s website, www.anthrasyte.com, and each 12-ounce bag retails for $15.25.

The Anthrasyte Difference

All bags include coffee beans that are:

  • Single Origin rather than a blend of multiple beans from different countries.
  • Freshly Roasted just before shipment.
  • Roasted in West Virginia by hard-working Mountaineers.
